Greetings Riptide,

This post is all about meets…

We just completed our first long course meet of the season (DA Blue Meet) this weekend and had great results. This was a meet for many swimmers who had never competed in a long course meet before. You all did very well. I was particularly impressed by the way you guys took care of business at the meet. What I mean is all the little things you need to do at a meet to prepare yourselves for fast swimming. There are a lot of things on that list, here are just a few: checking in on time reporting to the coaches for warm uptalking to your coach before each race and after each warm downstaying out of the hot sun and dressed warmlydrinking lots of water and eating healthy snacksWhen you do all the preparation over weeks of swim practice it is important to take the final steps at a meet to give your bodies every opportunity to perform well. You did this at the DA blue meet – Great Job! This weekend there will be a few older swimmers competing at a senior meet (Good Luck to those of you swimming) but the next meet for most of you will be the ORCA red white meet. You are eligible to swim this meet in all events where you have either a red or a white time. If you are blue or faster you may not swim that event. REMEMBER to get your entry form and fees turned in by this Friday. Please come talk to your coach if you are not sure what to sign up for. Finally, the summer is going to be here soon and we need you to be prepared to swim in the main meets on our summer calendar. Those meets are the June Invite (June 21-24) Summer JO’s (July 26-29) and JO Max (July 21+22). These meets will be posted on our meet schedule soon and they are in the Swim Guide Calendar now. Please have your parents take a look at the dates so you can plan on attending and start working to get your qualifying times early. Go Riptide!
